Afternoon Tea

A classic British tradition with a lakeside twist...

Let’s raise a glass to Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford, originator of afternoon tea. Peckish between luncheon (a small meal) and dinner (often served late), Anna got into the habit of having a light meal of tea, cake and sandwiches in the afternoon. Soon, what was atypical became de rigueur.

Today, at Frensham Pond Hotel, you can enjoy this classic British tradition in The Watermark Restaurant, The Indigo Bar, or on the patio looking out across Frensham Great Pond. Go on, treat yourself to freshly baked fruit scones, homemade jam, clotted cream, a delectable selection of freshly cut finger sandwiches, melt-in-your-mouth cakes, and, of course, speciality teas or a pot of piping hot coffee. Afternoon tea can be booked in advance when booking your room online. “To Anna!”
